In Oil&Gas environments often lead sheaths are required due to its performance against Hydrocarbons. The toxic fumes released during lead sheath production also make them very harmful to the environment.
Alternative Jackets have been developed over the years to replace the lead sheath.
The main design is a combination of three layers:
This is also called TRI-Barrier jacket. It is also a Moisture Barrier at the same time (ALPOL-HDPE). It is also a Termite protection at the same time (PA). This TRI-Barrier provides the cable with a Hydrocarbon resistant jacket. The cables will always have an armouring (CST or SWA). The Universal versions with the TRI-Barrier jacket have an inner jacket of Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH), which ensures the cable’s fire behavior after the outer jacket, armouring and TRI-Barrier are removed.
